I saw LotR: RotK yesterday (took a four hour hiatus from work to do it). It is awesome. But it left me very disappointed in certain specific parts.
The death of Theoden, the battle with Shelob, the struggle of Frodo and Gollum at the Crack of Doom, the evolution of Gollum from Smeagol, and the battle of the Pelennor Field were all astounding. However, Aragorn the messiah, the Paths of the Dead sequence, the battle at the Black Gate, and the coronation of the King were simply awful.
I estimate that there is at least an hour more of footage to go on the extended DVD. Which pleased me mightily. I wish it could have been shown that way in the theater, though.
