Go to the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy for my coverage and weak analysis of the Mississippi judicial scandal.
Sometimes I just despair of the legal profession in Mississippi. Self-policing by the Bar is essentially ineffective (it's not like what was going on was wholly secret, or even well-concealed).
This is just too damn funny, in an excessively morbid way. My first thought was "Rachel Corrie is to Richard Corey as..."
Then I read the comments and saw that someone had beat me to it. Damn.
Good gravy. I know I didn't blog yesterday- I had a CLE seminar in Jackson (the Bold New City).
Yesterday, the first of hopefully many reported cases to bear my name came down from the Mississippi Court of Appeals. I got top billing as appellant's counsel, even though all I did was carry my boss's briefcase into the oral argument and sit there. A very good decision for us, by the way; 9-1 for reversing and rendering. Who says you can't get justice in Mississippi?
What is the best nickname that Chris "Boomer" Berman ever crafted for an NFL player?
My vote is for lamented San Diego fullback Eric "Sleeping With" Bienemy.
A Tale in the Desert swallowed up almost ten hours of my weekend. It's a fascinating game of highly nuanced social and economic interaction, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The free trial period is just long enouigh to help you decide if you want to play. It's a slightly hefty 78 MB download. If you do decide to give it a try, look up Scipiamon at the Theopolis Guild (one of the oldest and biggest guilds).
In other news, I am the only house on my block flying an American flag. Of course, there are only four houses on my block (I'm across the street from the city school administration building, and my street is exactly one block long, as the street stops on one end at a church, and at the other end at a funeral home). I guess you could say that my street provides for every need in the city, both spiritual and temporal. I must confess that I'm not at all creeped out by this. Even living as I do in the city, I am wakened every morning by the chirping of irritating birds, and I am lullabyed each night by the damn crickets.
